Patent
The Brazilian Patent Office has published in its latest Official Gazette two additional modalities of fast-track patent examination. These programs encompasses patent applications resulting from public funding, and applications claiming protection for technologies available in the market, taking as reference the Brazilian market.
This latter modality focuses on solutions that are already licensed, imported/exported, offered for sale or even technologies that are being negotiated.
These new fast-track will probably give the applicants competitive advantages in business scenarios, as having a patent is an essential asset for negotiating and exploiting technologies. Patent applicants can benefit from such programs as of September 1st, 2020.
